Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to look after my fire pit?

We like to leave our fire pits to age in their natural state so that they develop a lovely patina. A light coating of vegetable oil after each use can be used to slow the rusting process or alternatively a stove blacking (Hotspot Stove and Grate Black Polish) or a high temperature paint can be used on the Mild Steel. The fire pits are designed to survive the conditions outside for many years however you might prefer to take them apart and store if there are long periods when your fire pit is not being used.

It is important that you do not leave Stainless Steel touching the Mild Steel in storage because this will cause corrosion in the Stainless parts.

What are the firepits made of?

We make the fire pits out of Mild and Stainless Steel. The main Fire pit uses Mild Steel up to 8mm thick and BBQ cooking plates and Pizza Oven are made using Stainless Steel. The parts are all laser cut and then finished by hand. There may be some marks from the manufacturing process however with a little use these will soon fade.

Why do you offer different Cooking Plate designs?

We offer 3 designs of cook plate and leave it up to you to decide what options to choose.

The slotted and dotted designs offer similar function. The slotted has a greater open area allowing the heat from the fuel to directly cook the food. The skillet plate without holes can be used in a similar way to a frying pan. Within the order process you can specify any combination.

The cooking plates will be supplied with an additional fitting that allows them to fit on to the fire pit.

There is also a warm plate option for food to keep warm after cooking

How do I use the Pizza Hood?

To use the pizza hood you will need a pizza stone. Using charcoal, after lighting allow the flame to die down leaving a covering of white ash. Place the pizza stone onto the cooking plates and add the pizza hood. It will be hot so we recommend a good pair of oven gloves. Allow the stone to get hot before sliding in your pizza, a peel is a good option for this. Once cooked remove the pizza.

No doubt there will be a learning curve in use, but with a bit of practise you will soon be producing some excellent pizzas.

What sizes do you offer?

We offer three sizes. Compact, Original and The Big One.

The Compact version is perfect for travelling while the Original and The Big One are ideal in the garden. See this diagram for more detail on size and weights.
